My name is Lachelle and I'm a perfectionist.
The thing is, this is sometimes a good thing if you know how to turn it off. When it becomes a struggle for my is when my perfectionism turns from wanting something to look good to a crutch. Often times I find myself not releasing something, not doing the event, not recording the video because I want it to be perfect. I recently was at an awards banquet and the keynote speaker said the phrase "Let done be better than perfect". This stood out to me mainly because it was so simple. Let DONE be better than PERFECT, meaning let what you have completed be released, it's okay if it's not perfect but at least let it be done!
It's okay to release it, it's okay to publish it then main thing is to JUST DO IT! I When I first decided to relaunch my blog site, I went back and forth about the look, feel, branding,,etc. I even found myself pushing back the date to release it because the look wasn't just "right" but 'm learning that not everything is going to be perfect and if I keep this thought process, I will never truly get things done. It was if my perfectionism was another word for fear. Fear of failure, fear that my once chance to make a first impression will be my last one. Or just fear of letting go. Us perfectionist have to learn how to just let go, if I didn't I wouldn't have relaunched this blog, I wouldn't have recorded or released anything on YouTube and I would still be sitting here over thinking and analyzing,
So if you're reading this with me and you also raised your hand, do me a favor and let go and do it. Release the thing that you're holding on to because with the release comes a new understanding that everything doesn't have to be perfect and sometimes getting it DONE is the first step in making it great!
